Our good friend and neighbor, Georgia, turned 29 yesterday. We spent an evening of delicious food, libations, and music at her sweet Mama and Daddy's house. The home was full of people, each with their own "We love Georgia" sentiments and stories.
Our family's friendship with Georgia is relatively new--post-Katrina, but has proven to be a tremendous gift in our lives. Georgia is kind, thoughtful, and so incredibly funny. It's always a treat to see her and her lovely daughter strolling our way for an impromptu playdate, or having them over for dinner, or spending an evening out. It's definitely increased our property value to be so close to this natural resource(-;
Thanks Georgia for the light you bring everywhere you go. The children love you, and I'm so grateful for your friendship. Happy Birthday!
And don't forget to send me the pics from last night so I can post(-;

My loving Georgia sentiment is related to the flood of September 1998. I'm sure she doesn't remember me, and I can't claim to remember her appearance, but she and her mom were such gracious hostesses when the pouring rain and flooded streets trapped me in the Bead Shop for hours, until other commitments made me leave my car there, hike up my skirt, and wade on.
OHHHHH!!!
I can't believe this sweet sweet post has been sitting here all these days and I didn't even know it!
I am so glad I scrolled down....I must have smiled 25 times reading it.
Thanks so much for your beautiful blog Emmy! You have such a way with words, and I am honored to be the subject.
I would argue that I am indeed the lucky one...to have landed here on Hahhhding and been blessed with the gift of the O'Dw... family.
Such a gift indeed...you and your family make me smile from the inside out.
Thanks for making it to my birthday dinner, it was such a treat to have the whole family there! And my beautiful plant and birthday card...I will save that forever.
LOVE YOU!!!!!!!
P.S.....Shokufeh!!!! What a small world. I never made the connection....but YES I do remember you!!! You aren't kidding, It really was hours....I'm glad to know that nice lady I remember was you! Funny how you can have small interactions with strangers on any given day, and never know that it made a difference...or that they even remember you!
