Tomorrow is the BIG GAME. I don't think I've ever used those words together.
My passion for Saints football is not unique these days. Everyone in this city is abuzz. "Who Dats" permeate long lines of strangers in grocery stores, and we are awash in black and gold, with fleur de lis identifying us as members of the Nation of Maniacs.
Truth be told, we are bursting with joy, and in a city that has had its heart so terribly broken, and lost so much in the last 4 years, we are grateful for this beautiful, crazy ride that connects us around happiness, shared love, and excitement.
In a place with a deep divide of class and economics, there is this bridge of brotherhood, as we honk at each other in traffic, or exchange a hug simply because we have so much joy to give away.
I'm full of gratitude for our Boys in Black and Gold. They have brought us together in a way that nothing else could, and reminded us that through determination, ANYTHING is possible. Even in this town. Especially in this town.
And as for this, from one of the Colts' twitter feeds, I think it's an accurate analogy.
Katrina knocked us down, but we're up, and we're fighting, and we shine. Get ready.
